How do I place an order with you?

Placing an order is a straight forward process that can be completed through our online store. Simply select the kind of cake you would like, the size and date you would like to collect it. Alternatively you can call our friendly staff to place your order.

All orders require upfront payment and at least 48 hours notice. If you require a cake sooner please call our office to see what is available.

Can I change my order once it's been placed?

Orders of standard cakes can be changed or cancelled up to 24 hours before the set collection date. After this period your cake will already be in production. For larger and custom cakes a service fee may be applied.

How far in advance do I need to order my cake?

Please place orders at least 48 hours before your event. For custom cakes and celebration cakes contact us as soon as you can to make arrangements.

If I collect my cake the day before my event will it be okay in the fridge overnight ?

Our cakes are made fresh every day and are best enjoyed if eaten immediately. Some of our cakes can be kept in the fridge and eaten within one or two days, but please refer to the care instructions under each cake for our recommendations.

If you do intend to store in a refrigerator overnight we recommend sealing the cake box in cling film to reduce fridge odours affecting the taste of the cake. And make sure to take the cake out of the fridge for at least half and hour before serving to bring it to room temperature  – but keep it away from heaters and out of direct sunlight.

I've got an event today and I need a cake now! Help me Black Star Pastry, you're my only hope.

Okay, here's what you do: call us on (02) 9557 8656. We won't be able to make a cake for you but there may be something in store that is available.

There is a cake I've seen advertised that is not on your list. Can I get you to make special cake just for me?

Yes, we can make a special cake just for you but not all of our special event cakes are able to be made again as we rely on seasonal ingredients. Please contact our ordering staff to enquire about making a custom cake.

Can you copy a cake from another cake maker?

No. BlackStar only makes cakes of its own design. We do not copy the original work of others.

Do your cakes come precut?

We recommend that our cakes are sold whole so they remain intact and stable during transportation. Precuttng is possible upon customer request, additional fees will apply depending on the cake size. 

What is your policy on returns and exchanges?

We wish all our customers to be happy and satisfied with their cakes and we do everything we can to guarantee the freshness and quality of our products, but we are aware that sometimes bad things happen to good cakes. If you aren't completely satisfied with your cake for whatever reason, please contact our office on 02 9557 8656 or email info@blackstarpastry.com.au as soon as you notice the problem.

Because our cakes are made fresh from perishable ingredients we do not accept returns after 24 hours. Cakes must be unconsumed (as much as possible, if the problem was discovered after eating, please save as much of the cake as you can to help us determine the possible cause)

Do you deliver?

Due to the delicate nature and freshness of our cakes, we do not organise couriers but customers are welcome to organise their own at their own risk. We do not recommend any particular courier service but below are some links to companies that have safely delivered cakes for customers before.


For wedding and large custom cakes we can liase with you about delivery and setup by our in house staff.

Can you deliver a cake interstate?

It can be done. But we don't recommend it. Zoom2u.com offers interstate deliveries to Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.
